Kimpton Village Questionnaire Results - 2008 This has been a fantastic feedback and getting 40% of house holds responding gives us a good idea of what the council should be focusing on. The Questionnaire this time included a request for volunteers and feedback on social events the village would like to see. We have has 16 villagers put there names down as volunteers, as this is the first time we have asked for this it was a good response. Housing – With the figures and the comments it shows that there is an acceptance of affordable housing is required, but no commercial housing. This was fed back to the land owner and developer who have approached the council regarding a development on the edge of the village. Broadband – This showed a 50/50 split of people that have broadband and people that would like broadband but are unable to get it. There were also comments regarding the quality and speed of the lines provided by the people that are able to get it. The council have been in contact with BT and they are currently pricing the upgrade of the link between Kimpton and Weyhill that is a cause of so many people being unable to get a line. We have reported the results of the questionnaire to the people organising the work, and await an update. The council will continue to follow-up on this issue. Street lights – It seems that most people are happy with the street light numbers as they are. There were some comments about the maintenance of the service and these will be followed up and resolved. Footpaths – The condition of the paths about the parish do seem to be an issue, but with a network of paths we need feedback with knowing what needs addressing. We will try and organise locals who are regular walker to report issue they find and this can then be collated and reported. There seems to be a requirement for local footpath maps, it was reported that these have been available in the past. This will be looked into and the council will look at the options of how to provide a service. Traffic – We had a high response to the question about traffic speed through the village. In 2004 traffic calming measures were introduced within the village, I believe these have had some effect but according to the questionnaire results it needs more impact. The council will look to engage the county council on the subject to see if there are any other appropriate measures that could be taken. Roads – The condition of the roads was seen as poor and this are does need to be looked into. The council will look into assigning the specific task of road condition to a councillor so we can get more focus and hopefully progress in this area. Village Green – In general its seems the condition of the green is appropriate. People wanting the grass to be longer was 28%, so we do not have any ground swell to change the existing cutting instructions. I believe that the council could look to see if there is any way we could combine the existing cutting with a meadow environment. This will be investigated and reported back to the council. Communication – Generally the communication of the council to the villagers was satisfactory and no one area seemed to suffer. The one disappointment was when a box stating that an element of the communication was poor was ticked, there was no comment to say why. A review into communication does need to take place, we need to make positive that all villagers are getting all the information they require. The results of this review will be presented to the council and actions taken as a result. Allotments – I must admit we were hoping for a larger request for allotments so we could investigate the possibility of setting up Kimpton’s own site. But with only 4 positive and 4 possible it would be very hard to go forward with this idea. So for now this will not be pursued but we will ask the question again when we think it appropriate. Events and Clubs – We had a lot of interest in the events and clubs, including some interesting suggestions. We will be looking at the most popular and seeing if we can get any of these setup via the Village Volunteers. The council will keep the villagers updated as to any progress.
